JACKSONVILLE, N.C. – The Drew University men's golf team opened play at the 51st Camp Lejeune Championship, hosted by Oglethorpe College on Friday at Paradise Point Golf Club.
Over the first round of the 54-hole tournament, the Rangers shot a 310 and find themselves in a tie for 15th in a highly-competitive field of 20 schools.
Sophomore
Elliot Parker led the way in the opening round for Drew, shooting a 1-over par 73 to place him in a tie for 12th place among 100 competitors. He fired a pair of birdies and eagled the par-5 third hole.
Freshman
Nicky Riscica is currently second among the Rangers and is tied for 44th after carding a 77, which included one birdie, while senior
Matvey Pangan and junior
Mike Ford each shot an 80 to round out the team scoring. The two shot two birdies each and are tied for 76th.
Sophomore
Shiv Bhaskar is also in action and is tied for 82nd with an 81.
Oglethorpe leads the way with a 286 while Babson College is second with a 289. North Carolina Wesleyan's Myles Patterson leads the individual standings with a 68.
The second round will get underway on Saturday.
