MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University baseball team will open postseason play on Tuesday, when it visits Susquehanna University in the play-in game of the Landmark Conference Championships.
Â
The fifth-seeded Rangers (22-17, 13-11 LC) and the fourth-seeded River Hawks (20-20, 15-9 LC) will face off at 3 p.m., with the winner advancing to the double-elimination portion of the championships scheduledÂ
to take place Friday through Sunday at The University of Scranton. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid in the NCAA Division III Championships.
Â
The two sides played their three-game season series at Susquehanna on April 20-21, when the River Hawks won two out of three, including a come-from-behind, 5-4 victory in 11 innings in the series finale. Drew won the opener 12-6 before Susquehanna captured the middle game 5-3.
Â
The Rangers will be making their fifth appearance in the Landmark Conference Championships and their first in a non-Covid season since 2017. Drew's last postseason game was a Landmark Conference first-round matchup at Susquehanna in 2021, when every team received a spot in the tournament. In addition to 2017 and 2021, the Rangers also competed in the Landmark Conference Championships in 2016 and 2012. Drew will be aiming for its first postseason victory since defeating Moravian University 10-9 to win the 2012 Landmark Conference title.
