2023-24 ABCA Academic Excellence Award Winners

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Drew University baseball team was honored for its performance in the classroom last season, earning the Team Academic Excellence Award from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), presented by Sports Attack.

The Rangers were one of over 800 college and high school programs who were recognized with the ninth-annual award, which honors teams that are coached by ABCA members and have posted a grade-point average over 3.0 for the academic year. Drew finished with a 3.25 GPA as nearly 350 high school programs and more than 470 collegiate programs were recognized with this year's award.

Drew also collected individual academic honors this past season, as 18 Rangers earned a spot on the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll, including three who were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

The Rangers finished 22-18 this past season – a seven-win improvement from their record one year earlier and the team's best record since the 2017 squad finished 26-16. They also saw their conference record improve by 11 victories, finishing 13-11 versus Landmark opponents. Drew finished fifth in the Landmark Conference standings to earn its first conference playoff appearance in a non-Covid season since 2017.
