Women’s Soccer Ties RPI

MADISON, N.J. – Freshman Megan Jozak scored her first collegiate goal and the Drew University women's soccer team and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute played to a 1-1 tie Saturday afternoon in Ranger Stadium.

Jozak scored in the 58th minute for the Rangers (1-2-2), and Drew carried its 1-0 lead all the way into the 87th minute before the Engineers (2-1-1) struck with the equalizer.

RPI outshot the Rangers 14-8, but sophomore Sarah Crowley made six saves for the Blue and Green.

The Engineers held a 9-2 shot advantage in the opening half, but that's when Crowley collected four of her stops and it was a scoreless game at the intermission.

Senior Alexa Krause initiated Drew's goal, sending a perfect through ball down the left side of the field to Jozak who had a step on her defender. She dribbled into the left side of the box, where she slipped a shot around on onrushing keeper and inside the far post.

Krause led the Rangers with three shots for the game.

Drew is back in action on Wednesday, when they visit Ramapo College in a non-conference affair starting at 7 p.m.
