KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Drew University women's volleyball team posted its second straight sweep, downing Merchant Marine 3-0 in a non-conference road match Wednesday evening.
The Rangers won by scores of 25-15, 25-22, and 25-11.
Junior
Teeya Desgoutte posted 11 kills and nine digs for the Rangers, who posted a season-high .214 hitting percentage. Classmate
Emily Shirk recorded her third double-double of the season with 10 kills and 13 digs while freshman
Lindsey Millis notched eight kills and 14 digs. Sophomore
Alyssa Rachwal dished out 32 assists while senior
Genevieve Sarinelli notched 32 digs.
The Rangers never trailed in the opening set after scoring the first six points and jumping to a 10-2 lead. The second set was much closer, and it was tied 21-21 before Drew closed with a 4-1 spurt. The Mariners (6-4) led 3-2 in the third set, but the Rangers took command with a 9-1 run.
Drew continues its season on Saturday, when it hosts a tri-match starting at 11 a.m., when the Rangers take on DeSales University. Drew will also take on Union College at 3 p.m.
