FLEETWOOD, Pa. – The Drew University men's golf team turned in a stellar performance in the opening round of the Golden Oaks Shootout, hosted by Arcadia University at Golden Oaks Golf Club.
The Rangers fired a 290 (+2) and currently hold a 12-stroke lead over the Albright College "B" team in the field of nine schools. Arcadia is in third place with a 305.
Drew's score was the second-best in team history, trailing only a 285 (-3) at the Garden State Collegiate Classic on April 16, 2023.
Individually, junior
Elliot Parker shot an incredible 5-under-par 67 – good for a six-stroke lead. Parker's mark is tied for the second-best in program history and is just two strokes shy of his own school record. Parker recorded six birdies to go with 11 pars on the day.
Junior
Ryan Ricci finds himself in a three-way tie for second place in the 48-man field after opening with a 73. He registered an eagle on the par-5 fifth hole and birdied three additional holes.
Senior
Myles Cherry is close behind after opening with a 74, placing him in a three-way tie for fifth place. He notched three birdies on the day.
Sophomore
Avery Cohen and senior
Mike Ford were also in action and both are both in a four-way tie for 12th after opening with a 74. Ford shot all four of his birdies while shooting a 33 on the back-9 while Cohen birdied two holes.
The second and final round of the tournament gets underway on Monday starting at 9 a.m.
