MADISON, N.J. – Drew outshot Stockton 10-6, but the Ospreys scored the game's only goal in the first half to hand the Rangers a 1-0 setback in a non-conference tilt Tuesday evening in Ranger Stadium.
In the 20th, Erica Dietz took a cross on the left, made one touch to elude a defender, and rolled a shot just inside the left post as Stockton (1-1-1) scored its first goal of the season.
The Rangers (1-1) placed a shot on goal later in the half, but a quick strike from senior
Alexa Krause was saved by keeper Morgan Keil.
Drew turned up the offensive pressure in the second half, when it outshot the Ospreys 7-2. Junior
Aimee Barsa had one of the team's best looks at the goal in the 61st minute, but her shot was also stopped by Keil.
The Rangers were nearly awarded a penalty kick in the 77th minute, when sophomore
Ella Reyngoudt was tackled just outside the box. Freshman
Zoey Pipher took the free kick, which sailed over the crossbar.
Drew continues its five-game homestand to open the season when it hosts the Drew Fall Festival Saturday and Sunday. Stockton will also compete in the tournament and will take on New Paltz at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday before the Rangers face King's College at 4 p.m.
