MADISON, N.J. – SUNY New Paltz scored a goal in each half and the undefeated Hawks handed the Drew University women's soccer team a 2-0 setback in the final match of the Drew Fall Festival on Sunday in Ranger Stadium.
Sophomore
Sarah Crowley made a season-high six saves for the Rangers (1-2-1), who went 0-1-1 for the Festival after its 1-1 tie versus King's College on Saturday.
The Hawks (3-0-1) broke open a scoreless game in the 39th minute. After Crowley batted down a header following a New Paltz corner, Addison Weiner rebounded in the shot from the left post.
The Rangers blanked New Paltz until the 83rd minute, when Alexis DeLeo one-timed a cross to set the final score.
Graduate student
Rebecca Racine led the Ranger offense with three shots, including two that were on frame.
Maddie Franklin stopped three shots to earn the shutout for New Paltz.
In the other game on Sunday, Stockton defeated King's 3-0.
New Paltz finished 2-0 for the Festival after defeating Stockton 2-0 on Saturday.
The Rangers are back in action on Saturday, when they host RPI at 3 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.
