ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Drew University men's volleyball team opened its 2025 season with a 3-0 loss to Arcadia University on the opening day of the Battle for the Boardwalk Friday afternoon.
The Knights won by scores of 25-23, 25-22, 25-16.

The Knights led 11-5 early in the opening set before the Rangers climbed back into it with a 4-0 run. Drew later pulled to within 15-13 and kept it close until a 7-3 Arcadia run had the Knights one point away from winning the set. However, the Rangers answered with a 4-0 surge, started by kills from Adegbite and Shipman, to make it 24-23. However, Arcadia won the next point with a kill.
Drew led for the first half of the second set after jumping to a 9-5 lead. It was a back-and-forth affair for the second half of the period, and the Rangers led 22-21 after a kill from Adegbite and a solo block from Shipman. But the Knights came back with a 4-0 run to close out the set.
It was close again in the early part of the final set, and the score was tied at 12-apiece following a kill from Shipman. But that's when Arcadia used an 8-1 run to pull away.
Drew closes out tournament play on Saturday, when it faces No. 19-ranked Lasell University at 9:30 a.m. and Rivier University at noon.
