SCRANTON, Pa. – The Drew University women's volleyball team lost by a 3-0 count at the University of Scranton in a Landmark Conference matchup Tuesday evening.
The Royals won by scores of 25-22 ,25-10, 27-25.
Sophomore
Lindsey Millis led the Rangers with 12 kills and a career-high 19 digs while senior
Marissa Guajardo tallied 10 kills. Junior
Alyssa Rachwal handed out 26 assists, and sophomore
Aidyn Stone contributed 12 digs.
Millis posted eight of her kills in the first set, when she took 13 swings and hit .462. As a team, the Rangers hit .220 in the set and led 22-20 after a late 4-0 spurt. However, the Royals clinched it with a 5-0 run to end the game.
Scranton led from start to finish in the second set, but the Rangers went toe to toe with the hosts in the third stanza. Drew led 16-12 before Scranton rallied to take the lead. The Royals were serving for match point at 24-20, but the Rangers came back with a furious rally, using a 5-0 run to come to within a point of capturing the set. But Scranton won the last three points to ultimately clinch the victory.
Guajardo threw down four of her kills on just seven swings for a .429 hitting percentage in the final set, when Drew hit .200.
The Rangers continue their season on Friday, when they visit Catholic University at 7 p.m. in a Landmark Conference affair.
