LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – The Drew University men's cross country team posted a number of outstanding individual performances on Saturday at the Rowan University Inter-Regional Border Battle, held at Gloucester County Dream Park.
Junior
Tommy Edwards led the Rangers with an outstanding performance, placing 106th among 327 harriers while scaling the 8,000-meter course in 26 minutes, 31 seconds – a PR by nearly a minute.
Freshman
Fred Grote was the second Ranger to cross the finish line, and he took 193rd in 27:43. Sophomore
Matt Ellis followed in 259th place with a time of 28:11.
Freshman
Matt Vargas was not far behind, taking 259th in a PR of 28:49. Sophomore
Eliot Vishnevsky rounded out the team scoring, finishing 279th with a PR of 29:24.
Also competing were freshmen
Chris Tocci, who was 300th 30:29,
Luke Krafton, who took 314th in a PR of 31:42, and
Patrick Robinson, who was 317th in 33:43.
The Rangers finished with a team score of 868 to place 31st in a field of 35 teams. Carnegie Mellon University won the team title while Micah Lachman of Haverford College won the race in 24:28.
Drew continues its season on Thursday, when it takes on FDU-Florham and Saint Elizabeth University in the Battle of Madison Avenue at the Giralda Farms Preserve.
