WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Drew University men's golf team placed fifth out of 11 teams at The Melee, held Sunday and Monday at Ford's Colony Country Club.
Competing in their next-to-last event of the fall, the Rangers shot a 597 (301-296) to finish in front of McDaniel (598), Virginia Wesleyan "B" (612), Kean (617), Christopher Newport "B" (624), Stevens "B" (626), and Ursinus (656). Christopher Newport won with a 579 and was followed by Bridgewater (Va.) (585), Salisbury (588), and Dickinson (589).
Junior
Avery Cohen led the way for Drew, tying for sixth in a field of 60 with a 3-over-par 145 (72-73). He shot six birdies, including four in the opening round on Sunday.
Senior
Elliot Parker tied for 12th after carding a 148 (72-76) and firing five birdies in the opening round. Sophomore
Sam Dolan tied for 20th with a 151 (79-72) while senior
Shiv Bhaskar completing the team scoring, trying for 26th with a 153 (78-75). Junior
Thomas Hurley also competed and placed 48th with a 161 (82-79).
Salisbury's Ryan Henneman claimed medalist honors with a 138 (74-64).
The Rangers conclude their fall season on Saturday and Sunday at the Landmark Conference Fall Preview, held at Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort in Shawnee on Delaware, Pa.
