SCRANTON, Pa. – The Drew University women's soccer team lost by a final of 2-0 at the Landmark Conference-leading University of Scranton in the Rangers' regular-season finale Tuesday evening.
However, results from two other matches on Tuesday – a Lycoming victory over Wilkes and an Elizabethtown win over Moravian – assured Drew of its fourth consecutive Landmark Conference Championship tournament berth. The Rangers (6-8-3, 3-5-1) captured the No. 6 seed and will open postseason play with a first-round match at No. 3-seeded Catholic University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The Royals (13-2-3, 8-0-1 LC), who earned the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, scored a goal in each half with tallies in the 18th and 66th minutes.
Facing a 20-shot attack, junior
Sarah Crowley went the distance in goal for the Rangers and collected five saves, including four in the second half.
Mackenzie Van Arsdale earned the shutout for Scranton without making a save.
