HACKENSACK, N.J. – Drew's distance medley relay (DMR) team captured a victory to lead the women's track & field team at its first indoor meet of the season, the Knights Midweek Clash, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University at the Bogota Savings Bank Center on Wednesday.
The meet consisted of a mix of Division I (FDU, St. Peters), Division II (Felician), and Division III schools (Drew, FDU-Florham).
Two teams took the track for the DMR, and sophomore
April Kusnier, senior
Emily Camlet, sophomore
Isabella Fortunato, and junior
Sarah Hattan clocked a time of 13:33.04 to beat out FDU by 16 seconds.
Individually, sophomore
Lauryn Brown and junior
Sage Hendershot posted the team's top finish, tying for second in a field of 18 in the long jump. Both sailed 5.10 meters (16-8 3/4), placing just behind FDU's Jade Cruz (5.20m/17- 3/4).
Also in the long jump, freshman
Laiana Anderson placed 14th with a mark of 4.30 meters (14-1 1/4).
In the 1,000-meter run, junior
Sophia Kim placed third among six competitors with a time of 3:31.60 while sophomore
Bella Polizzi took fifth in 3:40.13.
Also on the track, senior
Matasia Christopher placed 17th in the 300-meter dash (50.33).
Three Rangers also competed in the shot put. Senior
Lauren Rizzolo placed 10th with a toss of 9.08 meters (29-9 1/2) while classmate
Michaela Fajardo (6.49m/21-3 1/2) and freshman
Sam Martinez (5.99m/19-7 3/4) also competed and placed 13th and 14th, respectively.
The Rangers are back in action on Saturday, when they compete at the TCNJ Indoor Opener, held at the Armory in New York City.
