Men’s Basketball Races Past CCNY in Tournament Consolation Game

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Drew University men's basketball team tied its fifth-highest point total in team history with a 113-68 victory over The City College of New York on Tuesday afternoon in the consolation game of the Franklin & Marshall College Holiday Tournament.
 
Six players scored in double figures for the Rangers (9-2), who posted their first 100-point game of the season and the program's highest scoring output since a 117-69 win over Moravian University on Feb. 16, 2022. T
 
Fourteen of the 15 players who entered the game scored a point for Drew, which knocked down 13 3-pointers and shot a season-high 51.3% from the field. Junior guards Andre De Los Reyes and Charlie Thornton scored 15 points apiece while junior guard Eli Yusavage and sophomore guard Marc Herasme netted 12 points each. Sophomore forward Ben Manns totaled 11 points and seven rebounds, and sophomore forward Kevin Cotton scored 10 points in just seven minutes of play. Junior forward Jalen Holmes totaled six points and nine rebounds in 10 minutes off the bench, and junior guard Taylor Perlmutter handed out seven assists. Freshman guard Erik Porch chipped in with four steals.
 
Kayson Dinkins posted 21 points and four steals for CCNY (1-9) while Justin Morety registered 21 points and nine rebounds.
 
The Rangers led 27-21 with 11:27 left in the first half before erupting with a 36-17 run to end the period. They forced 10 turnovers over the stretch and scored 34 points off 25 turnovers for the game.
 
Drew led 63-38 at the half and settled any doubt in the second stanza, when it outscored the Beavers 50-30. The Rangers pushed their lead to 40 with a 25-10 run to open the stanza and ended the game on a 15-6 push.
 
The Blue and Green return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 7, when they host Goucher College at 5 p.m. in a Landmark Conference affair.
