NEW YORK – The Drew University women's track & field team continued its indoor season and its third year as a varsity program on Saturday at the TCNJ Indoor Opener, held at the Armory in New York City.
Competing in their second meet in four days, the Rangers took on a mix of Division I, II, and III competition.
Leading the way for Drew was senior
Emily Camlet, who placed in the top-five in two different events. In the 400-meter dash, she placed second in a field of 15 while clocking a time of 57.20 seconds. She was the top Division III finisher in the event and placed just 0.11 seconds behind Moriah Luetjen of Division I Columbia. Camlet also came in fifth out 32 competitors and was the third Division III finisher in the 60-meter dash with a clocking 8.05 seconds.
Senior
Lauren Rizzolo added a fourth-place finish among seven competitors in the weight throw with a toss of 13.08 meters (42-11), lowering her own school record in the process. Classmate
Dejanayha Hill took fifth in the same event with a mark of 11.46 meters (37-4 1/4).
Two additional Rangers broke the top-eight, including sophomore
April Kusnier, who came in sixth in a field of 12 in the 1,000-meter run with a school-record time of 3:11.21. She was also the top Division III finisher in the event.
Sophomore
Lauryn Brown contributed a seventh-place showing among 20 competitors in the long jump, soaring 5.03 meters (16-6).
Sophomore
Perri Rubin also placed in the top half of the field in an event, taking ninth in a field of 22 in the mile. The top Division III finisher, she was timed at 5:41.69.
Drew competes in its last meet of the semester on Friday at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout, held at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
