HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Drew University men's volleyball team took on a pair of top-10 opponents in a tri-match at Stevens Institute on Saturday.
The Rangers faced No. 9-ranked Wentworth Institute and No. 4 Stevens and dropped a 3-0 decision to both opponents. Wentworth won 25-23, 25-20, and 25-15 while Stevens prevailed 25-21, 25-15, and 25-18.
Drew has not played seven nationally-ranked foes this season.
Against Wentworth, freshman
Gio Martin paced the Rangers with eight kills while making just one error on 10 swings for a .700 hitting performance. Junior
Andrew DuHaime posted 13 assists and three blocks while senior
C.J. Addeo (six blocks) and freshman
Michael Shipman (three blocks) also posted strong defensive showings.
Martin led the Rangers again versus Stevens, finishing with nine kills, while senior
Ephraim Smith added six kills. DuHaime handed out 22 assists, and Addeo threw down three more blocks.
The Rangers continue their season next Saturday with a home tri-match. Drew takes on John Jay College at 11 a.m. before facing Cairn University at 3 p.m.
