HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Drew University men's volleyball team completed its weekend trip to Virginia with a pair of matches on Saturday at Eastern Mennonite University.
The Rangers opened the day with 3-1 (25-17, 25-18, 20-25, 25-21) loss to EMU before dropping a 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-16) decision to No. 9-ranked Messiah University
Against Eastern Mennonite, senior
Ephraim Smith led the way with a big match, posting a season-high 15 kills to go with nine digs and three blocks. He made just two errors on 28 swings for a .464 hitting percentage. Freshman
Gio Martin added 12 kills and seven digs while junior
Andrew DuHaime distributed 31 assists. Freshman
Michael Shipman threw down four blocks while senior
C.J. Addeo contributed three blocks. Freshman
Eric Forget registered eight digs.
Drew took on a nationally-ranked opponent for the eighth time this season when it faced Messiah, which improved to 16-1 with the victory. Martin totaled five kills and committed just error versus the Falcons while Addeo turned in another big defensive performance with five blocks.
The Rangers return home on Wednesday, when they face King's College in a non-conference match starting at 6 p.m.
