Day 1 Results - Prelims
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore
Nicholas Heinio-Widell made his debut NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday, placing 38th in the preliminary round of the 200-IM on the opening day of the four-day meet at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Heinio-Widell swam to a time of 1:50.62, just 0.59 seconds shy of his own school record set back on Feb. 14 at the Landmark Conference Championships.
The Landmark Conference Swimmer of the Year, Heinio-Widell became just the second men's swimmer to compete at the NCAA Championships, following
Hayden Koh C'24, who swam in three events at the 2023 event.
Heinio-Widell will swim in two additional events. On Thursday, he will compete in preliminaries of the 100-butterfly, and he will also swim in prelims of the 100-freestyle on Saturday. He is seeded 16th in the 100-fly and 18th in the 100-free.
