Parker, Men’s Golf Capture Titles at DeSales Invitational

NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. – Junior Elliot Parker captured medalist honors while sophomore Avery Cohen finished as the runner-up and the Drew University men's golf team won its second straight title to open the spring with a victory at the DeSales Spring Classic on Friday and Saturday.
 
The Rangers fired a 586 (292-294) to win by eight strokes over runner-up Albright College. Scranton (609), Arcadia (615), and Salisbury (624) rounded out the top-five in the field of 13.
 
Parker cruised to a seven-stroke victory, beating out 67 golfers with a 7-under-par 137 (68-69). He posted seven birdies en route to his third individual title of the spring.
 
Cohen shot an even-par 144 en route to his fourth top-five finish of the season. He birdied 10 holes over the tournament.
 
Junior Liam Larkin was Drew's third finisher, recording a career-low 151 (77-74) while finishing in a four-tie for ninth place. Competing in his first 36-hole tournament of the season, he notched five birdies for the weekend.
 
Sophomore Eric Castner and freshman Brian Cotter were also in action, and both were among six golfers to finish in a tie for 21st place with a 156. Castner, shot 76-80, birdied five holes while Cotter, who posted a 75-81, registered seven birdies.
 
The Rangers continue their season April 4-6, when they compete at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate, hosted by Oglethorpe University and held at Paradise Point Golf Course Course in Camp Lejeune, N.C.
