WINCHESTER, Va. – The Drew University women's indoor track & field team competed at the NCAA South Region Final Qualifier on Saturday at Shenandoah University.
In the team standings, Drew finished fourth out of 18 teams who scored at least one point.
Junior
Emily Camlet posted a victory for the Rangers, beating out one other competitor in the 400-meter dash. With a time of 58.09 seconds, she broke the tape over two seconds in front of her opponent.
A pair of Rangers registered one runner-up showing apiece. Sophomore
Sage Hendershot took second out of 12 competitors in the long jump with a mark of 5.36 meters (17-7) while classmate
Lauryn Brown placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 10.97 meters (35-11 3/4).
Hendershot also placed fourth in a field of 16 in the 60-meter dash (7.90).
Freshman
April Kusnier took fifth out of eight competitors in the mile while lowering her own school record with a time of 5:25.22.
Brown also competed in the long jump and placed 10th with a leap of 4.11 meters (13-5 3/4). Meanwhile, junior
Dejanayha Hill come in ninth in the weight throw (10.56m, 34-7 1/2).
Several Rangers will now hope for qualification in the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, to be held March 14-15 in Rochester, N.Y. The final list of meet participants will be made available on NCAA.com on Sunday.
