Ursinus Spring Awakening Results | Pioneer Spring Invitational Results

LIMERICK, Pa. and WAYNE, N.J. - Junior Elliot Parker won medalist honors for the second time this spring, leading the Drew University men's golf team to its third title this spring and its ninth of the year on Thursday at Turtle Creek Golf Course.

The Rangers, who placed all five of their golfers in the top-10, shot a 295 to outdistance runner-up Ursinus College by 19 strokes.

In addition, Drew had a "B" team in action as well, competing at the William Paterson Pioneer Spring Invitational at the Preakness Valley Golf Course. Junior Ryan Ricci claimed medalist honors while leading the Rangers to a second-place finish out of five teams.

Parker fired a 1-under-par 71, tying Ursinus' Billy Breslin for first. However, Parker was awarded the title on the third tiebreaker, edging Breslin 12 for 14 on "last three holes score." It was the fifth time in eight events this season that Parker, who birdied four holes and parred 11 others, has claimed at least a share of first place.

Sophomores Eric Castner and Thomas Hurley were the next finishers for Drew, as they each shot a 74 to tie for fourth place in the field of 48. Junior Shiv Bhaskar rounded out the team scoring, shooting a 76 for an eighth-place finish, while junior Liam Larkin was also in action, tying for 10th with a 78. Castner and Bhaskar each shot three birdies on the day while Hurley carded two.

Closer to home, the B squad shot a 309, placing just four strokes behind Rutgers-Camden.

Ricci and freshman Brian Cotter each shot a 5-over 75 and tied Reid Walker of Rutgers-Camden for first place, but Ricci was awarded the title – his first of the season – on a tiebreaker. Both he and Cotter shot one birdie and 11 pars for the day.

Junior Max Conklin was the third finisher for the Rangers, as he shot a 78 to finish in a three-way tie for eighth place in a field of 30. Senior Myles Cherry posted an 81, and he and Conklin both birdied the par-5 18th hole.

Senior Ryan Firman also competed and tied for 17th with an 86.

The Rangers continue their season on Tuesday with the Conquer the Island tournament, held at Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort in Shawnee on Delaware, Pa.
