SHAWNEE ON DELAWARE, Pa. – Junior Elliot Parker claimed medalist honors and the Drew University men's golf team won the team title by 11 strokes, capturing the Conquer the Island tournament on Tuesday at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort.
 
It was the fourth victory in five events for Drew's primary squad this spring.
 
The Rangers shot a 299 to beat out 15 other teams, including runner-up Stevens (310).
 
Drew also fielded a "B" team, which finished in third place with a 313.
 
Parker fired an even-par 72 – including a 3-under 33 on the back-9 – to edge out his teammate, junior Liam Larkin, by one stroke. It was the third outright title of the spring for Parker, who shot four birdies on the day.
 
Larkin placed second in the field of 83, firing two birdies and 14 pars, including pars on all nine holes on the front-9.
 
Sophomores Eric Castner and Thomas Hurley were the third and fourth finishers for Drew's primary team, finishing in a six-way tie for seventh place. Castner shot three birdies while Hurley birdied two holes. Junior Shiv Bhaskar also competed and tied for 36th with an 83.
 
Leading the way for Drew's "B" team was junior Max Conklin, who tied a career-low with a 75 on the strength of four birdies. Sophomore Brian Cotter shot a 78, including an eagle on the par-5 15th hole, to tie for 13th. Junior Ryan Ricci and senior Myles Cherry each birdied three holes and shot an 80 to tie for 21st while senior Mike Ford also competed and tied for 43rd with an 85.
 
The Rangers return to action on Monday, when they "B" team competes at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational, held at Bent Creek Country Club in Lititz, Pa.
