Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Rainero, Rangers Down Wilkes

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore Jake Rainero turned in an incredible performance, winning all 20 of his faceoff attempts and the Drew University men's lacrosse team earned a 16-4 Landmark Conference victory at Wilkes University Wednesday evening.

Senior Luke Bruther scored four goals to lead a balanced offensive effort for the Rangers (6-4, 1-1 LC), who broke out to a 9-0 first-quarter lead. Freshman Nicholas Carabetta and junior Joey Larmore added three goals and one assist apiece while senior Mike DeMayo picked up a career-high eight ground balls to go with one goal and two assists.

Rainero, who also picked up 13 ground balls, became just the 30th player in NCAA Division III history to win at least 20 faceoffs without a loss, per the NCAA record book entering the 2025 season.

Sophomore Joe Barnish started in goal and made one save while playing the opening quarter. Freshman Aiden Kelly, sophomore Will Shandlay, junior Kennedy Sawyer, and freshman Kaleb Belle also saw action in net as well and made two saves each.

Bruther and Joey Larmore scored three goals apiece in the first quarter while Carabetta converted twice. Wilkes got on the scoreboard with 3:33 left in the opening half to make it a 9-1 game at the break.

The Rangers got hot again in the third quarter, racking up another six goals to put the game out of reach at 15-2. Senior Tommy Larmore scored twice for Drew. Wilkes outscored Drew 2-1 in the fourth quarter to set the final score.

Drew continues its season on Saturday, when it visits Elizabethtown College at 1 p.m. in another Landmark Conference affair.
