TOWSON, Md. – After posting a pair of record-breaking performances, junior
Emily Camlet and sophomore
Sage Hendershot have swept the Landmark Conference Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week selections.
Camlet, the Track Athlete of the Week, broke the Landmark Conference record in the 400-meter dash, winning the event at Moravian's Coach Pollard Invitational this past Friday with a time of 56.57 seconds. She topped a field of 34 runners, winning by over a second and finishing 1.8 seconds ahead of the next-best Division III competitor. Her time surpassed the previous conference record of 56.63, set by Susquehanna's Sara Arbogast in 2016, and currently ranks 32nd in Division III. Camlet also finished as the runner-up in a field of 51 in the 200-meter dash, hitting the finish line in 25.57 seconds and lowering her own school record set in the team's inaugural season last year.
The Field Athlete of the Week, Hendershot won the long jump while breaking the Landmark Conference record with a leap of 5.92 meters (19-5 1/2) at the same meet on Friday. She edged out Dickinson's Annie Leder by two inches while topping the former conference standard of 5.89 meters set by Susquehanna's Remi Acord in 2023, and she is now tied for sixth in Division III in the event. On the track, Hendershot took fourth among 37 competitors in the 100-meter dash, breaking her own Drew record in 12.54 seconds in the final, and she placed 13th in the 200 (26.63).
The Rangers continue their season April 28-29 at the Lehigh University Track & Field Classic.
