SHAWNEE ON DELAWARE, Pa. – The Drew University men's golf team jumped to a seven-stroke lead after the opening round of the Landmark Conference Championships on Saturday at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort.
Junior
Liam Larkin carded a collegiate-best, 3-under-par 69 for the Rangers, who fired a 289 and lead Scranton (296), Goucher (299), Moravian (301), Catholic (309), Juniata (317), Susquehanna (324), Wilkes (325), Elizabethtown (327), and Lycoming (342).
Larkin fired four birdies and leads Moravian's Jason Koch by two strokes. Goucher's Gidi Katz sits in third place with a 72.
Sophomore
Avery Cohen and junior
Elliot Parker each shot a 73 for Drew and are tied with Scranton's Liam Burtis for fourth place. Parker birdied four holes while Cohen notched three birdies.
Rounding out the team scoring for Drew was sophomore
Thomas Hurley, who recorded four birdies and finished with a 74, placing him in a four-way tie for seventh place.
Also competing is sophomore
Eric Castner, who is tied for 14th in the field of 50 after opening with a 76, which included three birdies.
The second and final round will be held on Saturday, with tee times starting at 7:57 a.m.
