NFCA Division III All-Region Teams
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Juniors
Olivia Magliacano and
Haley Meierhofer of the Drew University softball team have earned a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region V Team, it was announced on Friday.
Â
Both Magliacano, a first-team selection, and Meierhofer, a third-team honoree, captured their first career all-region awards. They will both move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced May 28.
Â
Drew has now had at least one all-region selection in each of the last four seasons.
Â
Magliacano also captured First Team All-Landmark Conference honors earlier this month after posting an impressive season as the team's starting centerfielder. Over 40 games started, she led the Rangers in a slew of categories, including batting average (.386), runs scored (41), hits (54), RBIs (26), triples (10), home runs (six), slugging (.707), and on-base percentage (.442). She broke school records for both hits and triples in a year and has also tied the Landmark Conference single-season record for triples. Magliacano leads the conference in triples, ranks second in runs and slugging, is third in hits, and is fourth in home runs. In addition, she enjoyed a strong season defensively, firing in seven outfield assists.
Â
In one of her top performances, Magliacano finished 5-for-6 with three home runs in a doubleheader versus Juniata. She also posted six, three-hit games throughout the season.
Â
Meierhofer also captured All-Landmark Conference honors this spring, earning second-team recognition. Starting 34 games at second base, she finished as the team's fourth-leading hitter, batting .333. She also tied for second on the team with 19 runs scored and tied for third among the Rangers with seven doubles. She was even more impressive in Landmark Conference play, leading the Rangers with a .429 batting average – a mark that tied her for first among the conference leaders.
Â
Meierhofer collected multiple hits in 10 games this season, and she drilled a career-high four hits in a 4-for-4 showing in a 7-1 victory over Juniata. She also cracked three hits versus Wilkes, John Jay, and Susquehanna.
Â
The pair helped the Rangers to a spot in the Landmark Conference Championship tournament, marking the team's first appearance in the Landmark Conference Championship since 2021 and its first in a non-Covid year since 2008.
