TOWSON, Md. – Mike Ford has been honored as the Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's golf, conference officials announced on Tuesday.
The Landmark Conference selects 23 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics. The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, athletic communications directors, and diversity, ethnicity, and inclusion designees.
Ford is the second Drew men's golfer to earn the award and the first since
Anthony Castronova C'20 in 2020.
A Business major and Data Science minor, Ford is a two-time All-Landmark Conference performer, as he gained second-team honors in both 2022 and 2024. He placed ninth at the 2024 Landmark Conference Championships, and he also tied for 12th at the same event in 2022, helping the Rangers to their first-ever conference title and NCAA Division III Championship appearance.
For his career, Ford has shot a school-record 72 rounds, averaging a 78.4, and at one point held or shared Drew records for both 18 and 36 holes. A two-year team captain, he shot a career-low, 3-under-par 69, tying the school record at the time in the fall of his sophomore year at the Royal Lakes Invitational in Georgia. He also fired a 2-under 142 in the same match as then-teammate and current Head Coach
Lucas Artigliere C'23, setting the school record at the time for 36 holes during the spring of his freshman campaign.
Away from the links, Ford is a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll and has earned a place on the Dean's List. He participated in Drew's Wall Street Semester this past spring and holds a Bloomberg Market Concepts certification. He was an active member of "The Fund," Drew's student-run investment management club, and participated in Drew's "Bear Den," delivering four comprehensive business pitch presentations for a "Shark Tank"-style competition.
Ford is Drew's third Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year this season, following
David Hoyt C'24 (men's soccer) and
Katerina Poulathas C'25 (women's swimming & diving). The Landmark Conference will continue announcing its spring scholar-athlete of the year winners throughout the rest of the week.
