VICTOR, N.Y. – The Drew University men's golf team wrapped up its second appearance at the NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday at Cobblestone Creek Country Club, shooting a 324.
Competing in rainy conditions, the Rangers finished with a 36-hole score of 641, placing them 38th in the field of 43. Only the top-18 teams advance to the final two rounds of the tournament.
Junior
Elliot Parker led the way for the Rangers, posting three birdies and nine pars en route to a 6-over 78. He finished the tournament with a 153 and tied 17 other golfers for 63rd place, marking the top finish for a Ranger at the NCAA Championships. Drew also competed at the event as a team in 2022 while Parker qualified individually last season.
Drew's second finisher was sophomore
Eric Castner, who shot a 79 for the second day in a row on the strength of one birdie and 10 pars. He finished tied with 10 competitors for 137th with a 158.
Junior
Liam Larkin notched a pair of birdies and nine pars on Wednesday and finished the tournament tied for 162nd with a 162 (82-80). Sophomore
Thomas Hurley completed the team scoring with a 169 (81-88), tying him for 169th, while classmate
Avery Cohen also competed and tied for 172nd with a 172 (85-87).
The tournament closes the curtain on an outstanding season for the Rangers, who won seven of their 12 events, including the second Landmark Conference title in team history. The squad also averaged a school-record 297.5 per round and shot the lowest scores in team history for both 18 (284) and 36 (574) holes.
