WAYNE, N.J. – Senior
Jared Brown scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute and the Drew University men's soccer team earned a 2-1 non-conference victory at William Paterson Wednesday evening.
The Rangers (4-1), who pushed their winning to three, have posted their best start through give games since opening 8-0 in 2022.
Junior
Ignacio Martinez also scored a goal for Drew, pushing his team- and Landmark Conference-leading total to five on the season. He has now scored a goal in each of his four games this year.
Senior
Pim van Hilten collected six saves in his first career start for the Rangers while Luca Misko stopped five shots for the Pioneers (2-3-1).
Martinez put the Rangers on the scoreboard in the 12th minute before William Paterson tied it in the 37th minute. Each side attempted five shots in the first half and it was a 1-1 game at the intermission.
The score remained tied until Brown netted what held up as the game-winning goal for the second match in a row.
Van Hilten saved a pair of shots in the first half, then turned aside all four WPU shots on goal in the second stanza.
The Rangers pick up their schedule on Saturday, when they host New York University at 3 p.m. in a non-conference outing.
