Men’s Golf Takes the Lead at The Gauntlet

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Coming off an outstanding 2024-25 season, the Drew University men's golf team has picked up right where it left off.
 
After the opening round of competition, the Rangers - the reigning Landmark Conference champions - have jumped to a three-stroke lead among 15 schools at the highly-competitive event. Drew fired a 7-over-par 287 and leads Franklin & Marshall (290) for the top spot while Farmingdale State (291) is in third place.
 
Individually, Elliot Parker opened his senior campaign in impressive fashion, as the two-time All-American carded a 4-under-par 67 to surge to a one-stroke lead over Thomas O'Connell of York (Pa.). Parker notched three birdies, eagled the par-4 sixth hole, and shot even par on 13 other holes.
 
Junior Thomas Hurley is second among the Rangers after opening with a 70, placing him in a tie for fourth in the field of 75. He has posted a pair of birdies to go with 14 pars.
 
Completing Drew's opening-round score were sophomore Sam Dolan, who shot a 73 and is tied for 11th, and junior Avery Cohen, who posted a 78 and is tied for 42nd. Dolan birdied two holes and parred 11 others while Cohen also recorded a pair of birdies.
 
Senior Liam Larkin is also competing in the tournament and opened with an 83, placing him in a tie for 66th.
 
The second and final round begins at 9 a.m. on Monday back at the Bucknell Golf Club.
