MADISON, N.J. – Four different players scored a goal and the Drew University women's soccer team rolled to a 4-1 victory over Goucher College in its Landmark Conference opener on Saturday in Ranger Stadium.
The Rangers (4-3-1, 1-0 LC) led 2-1 at halftime, then tacked on a pair of insurance goals in the second half.
Drew held decided advantages in shots (27-2) and corner kicks (10-1).
The Gophers (1-8, 0-1 LC) struck first with a goal in the 29th minute, but sophomore
Sophia Lara tied it up for Drew four minutes later, finishing off an pass from junior
Ella Reyngoudt for her second goal of the season.
Sophomore
Megan Fedish gave the Rangers a 2-1 lead with held up as the game-winning goal in the 37th minute.
Drew outshot Goucher 9-1 in the opening half.
Freshman
Riley Bent got into the act in the 78th minute, when she scored her first collegiate goal to make it 3-1. Junior
Maeve O'Murchu providing the finishing touches in the 84th minute, striking off an assist from senior
Kati Matteson.
The Rangers stacked up an 18-1 surplus in shots in the second half, when Nia George made eight of her 11 saves for Goucher.
It was a light day in goal for Drew, which faced just one shot on goal. Junior
Sarah Crowley played the first half before giving way to
Hayden Scotti for the second period.
The Rangers are back in action on Tuesday, when they host Stevens Institute at 7 p.m. in a non-conference affair.
