BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Drew University men's golf team shot a 300 on the second and final day of the Bowdoin College Invitational on Sunday and finished fifth out of 17 teams at the two-day event at the Brunswick Golf Club.
The Rangers finished with a score of 603 (303-300), placing behind only Amherst (593), Williams (593), Tufts (595), and Bowdoin (597).
Individually, sophomore
Sam Dolan was the team's top finisher, shooting a 1-under-par 143 (71-72) to place third out of 97 competitors. He notched five birdies on Sunday and eight for the tournament while shooting a 33 on the final back-9.
Senior
Elliot Parker was Drew's second finisher, placing in a six-tie for 28th place with a 153 (75-78). He recorded five birdies on Sunday and eight for the tournament, and he also eagled the par-5 16th hole on Sunday on his way to a 34 for the back-9.
Junior
Thomas Hurley placed in a five-way tie for 34th, shooting a 154 (78-76) that included three birdies on Sunday and four for the weekend. He closed the tournament with a 33 over the last nine holes.
Also competing for the Rangers were junior
Avery Cohen and senior
Liam Larkin, who were two of five golfers to shoot a 155 and tie for 39th. Cohen (79-76) shot a pair of birdies on Sunday and three for the tournament, and he closed with an even-par 35 on the back-9. Larkin (79-76) notched one birdie on Sunday and three for the weekend.
The Rangers "B" team competes on Monday at the Stevenson Invitational, held at Piney Branch Golf Club in Upperco, Md.
