GALLOWAY, N.J. – Sophomore
Sophia Lara scored in the 81st minute to help the Drew University women's soccer team salvage a 1-1 tie at Stockton University in a non-conference tilt Wednesday evening.
The Rangers (1-0-1) trailed 1-0 before Lara took a pass from junior
Maeve O'Murchu and booted in her second career goal. Each side attempted one shot down the stretch, but neither was on frame.
The Ospreys (1-1-1) held a 13-9 shot advantage, but sophomore
Dani Iannelli made three saves for Drew. Morgan Keil stopped four shots for Stockton.
The hosts struck first, when Logan Shaw converted a penalty kick in the 23rd minute. Stockton outshot the Rangers 10-2 in the period, but that's when Iannelli registered two of her saves.
The Rangers were the aggressors in the second half, when they outshot the Ospreys 7-3. However, Shaw turned aside three shots in the stanza.
The Blue and Green continue their season on Saturday, when they take on Farmingdale State at noon on the opening day of the Drew Fall Festival.
