NEW YORK – Senior
Emily Camlet turned in another outstanding performance to lead the Drew University women's indoor track & field team at the Ramapo Season Opener on Friday at the Armory.
In a meet consisting of Division I, II, and III competition, Camlet won the 400-meter dash for the second week in a row while placing third in the 200.
In the 400, Camlet raced to a season-best time of 56.86 seconds – nearly a full second faster than her nearest competitor in the field of 48. She also beat out the nearest Division III finisher by 1.46 seconds. Camlet's time boosted her to fifth on the current Division III performance list.
Camlet was equally impressive in the 200, racing to a career-best time of 25.36, which places her 12th on this year's Division III performance list. Competing in a field of 73, she placed only behind winner Asheika Smith of Division II Winston-Salem State (24.90) and Fega Eruotor of Division I Albany (25.24) while placing over a second in front of the nearest Division III finisher.
Sophomore
April Kusnier also posted a pair of top performances for the Rangers and came in 10th in a field of 37 in the mile with a time of 5:29.91. In addition, she took 14th among 38 runners in the 800 while lowering her own school record to 2:31.71.
Junior
Sage Hendershot added a 10th-place finish out of 41 competitors in the 60-meter dash, clocking a time of 8.06 seconds. Sophomore
Perri Rubin also finished in the top half of the field in her event, placing 18th in the mile with a time of 5:44.50.
Drew continues its season on Sunday with the Ursinus Collegeville Shootout.
