WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior forward
David Musial and the Drew University men's basketball team turned in an incredible second half in a 107-93 Landmark Conference victory at Lycoming College on Saturday afternoon.
The Rangers (15-4, 9-3 LC) trailed by seven at halftime before exploding for 66 points in the second period that included a 36-21 outburst over the game's final 8:31.
Musial carried the Rangers late and finished just two assists shy of a triple-double, posting career-highs of 30 points and eight assists to go with 14 rebounds and four steals. He netted 20 of his points in the final 8:07 and scored 12 straight points for Drew at one point. His second-half totals would have been impressive for an entire game alone: 25 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
For the game, Musial shot 10-for-13 from the field, including 2-for-4 from 3-point range, and 8-for-8 at the foul line.
All of Drew's starters scored in double figures, including junior guards
Andre De Los Reyes (23 points),
Charlie Thornton (17 points), and
Eli Yusavage (15 points) and senior forward
Kevin Cronin (10 points).
Connor Shanahan paced the Warriors (5-14, 1-11 LC) with 23 points off the bench.
Lycoming led 48-41 at the break, and it was a 51-44 game less than a minute into the second period. The Rangers answered with an 8-0 run to claim the lead on a 3-pointer from De Los Reyes, setting up a back-and-forth stretch that included 11 ties and six lead changes over the next 10 minutes.

Devon Musial kicked off Drew's late-game explosion with a pair of free throws that put the Rangers up 73-72 with 8:31 remaining before a layup from Yusavage 50 seconds later gave Drew the lead (77-76) for good.

David Musial then took matters into his own hands, reeling off a dozen points in a row that upgraded an 85-82 lead to a 97-89 advantage with 2:33 to go. Along the way, he converted four layups – including an and-1 – and drained one 3-pointer.
Drew led by eight with 1:31 left before icing the game at the foul line, where it finished 6-for-6 down the stretch.
David Musial hit four shots the charity stripe, including his final two points of the day that made it 103-91 with 1:12 to go, before Thornton settled any doubt with two of his own free throws with 47 ticks showing that made it 105-93.
The Rangers were red-hot from beyond the arc early in the contest, knocking down four 3-pointers during a game-opening 15-2 run. Yusavage, De Los Reyes, Thornton, and Cronin all connected from long range during the stretch.
Drew still led by 13 after a triple from
Devon Musial made it 18-5 with 14:20 on the clock. But the Warriors gradually climbed back into it and eventually took the lead (27-26) with 9:19 remaining. Lycoming used a 12-3 run to take a 42-34 lead with 4:55 on the clock and led by at least four over the remainder of the half.
The Rangers continue their season on Wednesday, when they visit Wilkes University in another Landmark Conference tilt starting at 7 p.m.
