MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's soccer remained unbeaten in Landmark Conference play after playing Wilkes University to a scoreless draw Wednesday evening in Ranger Stadium.
The Rangers (4-2-6, 2-0-3 LC) now find themselves in third place in the Landmark Conference standings with four regular-season matches left.
Drew outshot Wilkes 18-7, but Delaney Yaracs made 11 saves for the Colonels (8-5-1, 2-2-1 LC).
The Rangers limited Wilkes to just three shots on goal, and senior
Sarah Crowley made a pair of saves to post her fourth shutout of the season and the 10th of her career.
Sophomore
Riley Bent hounded Yaracs all night, firing off seven shots, including five that were on frame.
Freshman
Hannah Stahl nearly put the Rangers in front in the 60th minute, when she was 1-on-1 with the keeper on a breakaway. But the Yaracs deflected a shot high over the net.
Senior
Maeve O'Murchu lofted a shot in the 75th minute that nearly drifted inside the back post, but Yaracs made a leaping save, and it turned out to be her final stop of the night.
The Colonels were unable to place a shot on frame in the first half. But in the 55th minute, Wilkes headed a shot into an open net; however, sophomore
Alexandria Foley cleared it for the Rangers.
Wilkes was unable to muster another shot on goal until the 87th minute, when Crowley hauled in a quick chip off a corner kick. She made another stop in the 89th minute on a header off a free kick.
The Rangers pick up their schedule on Saturday, when they host Catholic University at 5 p.m. in another Landmark Conference affair.
