Alvernia Results | Widener Results

PHILADELPHIA and READING, Pa. – Senior Emily Camlet and junior Sage Hendershot combined to win all three individual sprinting events while placing second in another, leading the Drew University women's track & field team on Sunday at the Widener University Schuylkill Showcase, held at the University of Pennsylvania's Ott Center.

Drew competed in two different events over the weekend, as several athletes were also in action at the Alvernia University PLEX Shootout on Saturday.

Camlet swept both the 400- and 200-meter dash with victories in both events. She entered the day ranked 12th in Division III in the 400 with a season-best time of 56.86 seconds, and she nearly equaled that mark on Sunday. She was clocked at 56.93 as she won the event by nearly a full second while defeating all 41 competitors in the event.

In the 200, Camlet raced to a winning time of 25.39 – just three-hundredths of a second shy of her season-best time that currently has her ranked 33rd in Division III. She beat out 33 competitors in the event, and she has now placed in the top-three in each of her 200-meter races this season.

Camlet has now won each of her last three 400-meter races and has yet to finish behind a Division III runner in either the 200 or 400 this season.

Hendershot added a victory in the 60-meter dash while Camlet placed second in the same event. Hendershot crossed the line in 7.73 seconds – a meet record and just one-tenth of a second off her own school record. Camlet captured runner-up honors with a mark of 7.83.

Hendershot also placed sixth in a field of 23 in the long jump with a leap of 5.03 meters (16-6).

Sophomore April Kusnier added an eighth-place finish among 38 competitors in the mile with a time of 5:30.28. In the same event, classmate Perri Rubin placed 15th in 5:41.09.

Sophomore Isabella Fortunato also finished in the top half of the field for Drew, coming in 16th out of 34 competitors in the event with a time of 2:35.14.

At Alvernia, senior Lauren Rizzolo led the way with a pair of strong performances in the throws, placing placing 10th among 47 competitors in the weight throw (13.20m) and 29th in a field of 63 in the shot put (8.38m). In addition, senior Dejanayha Hill finished among the top half in an event, placing 19th in the weight throw (11.35m).

Drew continues its season next Sunday at the East Stroudsburg University DeScriver Invitational.
