SCRANTON, Pa. – The Drew University men's lacrosse team shut out host Marywood University in the second and fourth quarter and the Rangers opened the season with an 8-4 non-conference victory Saturday afternoon.
Junior
Joe Barnish made 10 saves for the Rangers, who took control with a 5-0 run overlapping the first and second quarters.
Sophomore
Joseph Carabetta and freshman
Yaneik Gallego scored two goals each for Drew while freshman
Kullen Mcdermott contributed one goal and two assists. Sophomore
Nick Carabetta and junior
Eli Sanford added five ground balls apiece for the Rangers.
After the Pacers (0-1) scored the game's first goal, Drew reeled off five straight tallies, including including back-to-back tallies from Gallego that made it a 4-1 game at the end of the first quarter.
Senior
Riley Zeer scored the only goal of the second quarter midway through the period to make it a 5-1 game at the half.
Marywood rallied in the third quarter, when it outscored the Rangers 3-0 to make it a one-goal game heading into the final stanza. But Drew won going away, as

The Rangers are back in action next Saturday, when they host Merchant Marine in a non-conference tilt starting at noon.
