Women’s T&F Earns Four Medals, Places Fifth at Landmark Indoor Champs

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Drew University women's indoor track & field team earned its top finish in team history at the Landmark Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, placing fifth out of eight teams on Saturday at Susquehanna University.
 
The Rangers, who are in their third year as a varsity program, scored 59 points to place in front of Susquehanna (47), Juniata (33), and Goucher (5).
 
Drew collected four medals on the day, including two from senior Emily Camlet. She captured her third consecutive Landmark Conference indoor title in the 400-meter dash in impressive fashion, winning by over two seconds and breaking the meet record with a time of 57.06 seconds. She also captured the bronze in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.85 seconds, and for good measure placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a 7.83 clocking.
 
Junior Sage Hendershot also turned in a tremendous meet, turning in a second, fourth, and fifth-place finish. She took home a silver medal in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.71 seconds after missing the conference record by three hundredths of a second and the meet record by two hundredths of a second with a mark of 7.68 in prelims. Hendershot also placed fourth in the 200 (26.26) and fifth in the long jump (5.09m/16-8 1/2).
 
Sophomore Lauryn Brown rounded out Drew's list of medalists, as she garnered runner-up honors in the triple jump, soaring 11.15 meters (36-7). In addition, she reached the podium in the long jump with a sixth-place finish, hitting the sand with a leap of 5.09 meters (16-8 1/2).
 
Drew also posted a pair of fifth-place finishes in the relays. In the distance medley, senior Kate Rice, sophomore Isabella Fortunato, sophomore Perri Rubin, and junior Sarah Hattan were timed at 13:38.57 while Hendershot, Brown, Fortunato, and Camlet lowered the Drew record in the 4x400 with a time of 4:13.86.
 
Several Rangers will continue their season March 6-7 at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships, held at the Armory in New York City.
