NEW YORK – Senior Emily Camlet registered a tremendous performance in the 400-meter dash at the Scarlet Knights Open, held at the Armory and hosted by Rutgers University Friday evening.

Camlet and junior Sage Hendershot competed in two events apiece for the Rangers at the meet, which consisted largely of Division I competition.

In the 400, Camlet finished fourth in a field of 39 while posting an incredible time. Running in the second heat, she placed second in a photo finish in a blazing 55.87 seconds, which not only lowered her own school and Landmark Conference record, but also vaulted her from 12th to third on the current Division III performance list in the event. She finished just four thousandths of a second behind heat winner Sierra Latonnel of Rutgers, and was nearly four seconds faster than her nearest Division III competitor. The only other two athletes to run faster than Camlet were the top two finishers in the first heat – event winner Charlee Crawford of Rutgers (53.39) and runner-up Success Duruzor (55.04), also of Rutgers.

Camlet also raced in the 200-meter dash and placed 13th among 76 competitors with a time of 25.49 seconds. She won her heat by nearly a full second, and she was the top Division III finisher in the event.

Through four meets this season, Camlet has yet to finish behind a Division III competitor in the 400 or 200.

Hendershot also competed in two events, and in the 60-meter dash she placed 10th in a field 40. She took second in her heat, placing behind only Abby Love of Rutgers. Overall, she was the second Division III finisher.

Hendershot also competed in the "Women's Long Jump Championship" and placed eighth with a personal season-best jump of 5.13 meters (16-10).

Drew's next meet will take place on Sunday, when the full team will travel to the East Stroudsburg University DeShriver Invitational.
