Camlet’s 400 Victory Leads Rangers at Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Senior Emily Camlet won the 400-meter dash to lead the Drew University track & field teams on the second and final day of their outdoor meet of the season, the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge, on Saturday.
 
Running the day after competing at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, Camlet beat out some 52 other competitors, racing to a time of 56.44 seconds – a time that currently ranks No. 1 at the Division III outdoor performance list. She won the event by 0.88 seconds, beating out Ja-Naya Linder of Division I Appalachian State. Camlet also beat out her nearest Division III competitor by over two seconds.
 
Junior Sage Hendershot added a 22nd-place finish in a field 77 in the 200-meter dash, clocking a 26.27, which currently ranks 14th in Division III. In addition, senior Kate Rice placed 16th among 38 competitors in the 1500-meter run (5:10.41) while junior Sophia Kim also finished in the top half off the field, taking sixth among 14 competitors in the 3000-meter run (12:07.28).
 
On the men's side, junior Jeff Ayeh-Datey posted one of Drew's top performances, placing 16th among 69 competitors in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.50 seconds. Classmate Aidan Riccardo added a 19th-place in the 400-meter hurdles, breaking the tap in 1:00.67 – nearly two seconds better than his own previous school record.
 
The Rangers return to action March 27-28 at the Ramapo Invitational.
