NEW YORK – Senior
Emily Camlet broke a pair of Landmark Conference records to lead the Drew University indoor track & field teams at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Armory.
The Rangers had five athletes compete at the qualifying meet, which featured top-notch competition from throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Camlet continued her assault on the Landmark Conference indoor 400-meter record. She clocked a time of 55.75 seconds for the two-lap event, chipping 0.11 seconds from her latest record set at Boston University three weeks ago. She placed second among 36 competitors in the event, finishing just 0.14 seconds behind Grace Yarkovsky of SUNY Plattsburgh in the final heat. Camlet is currently ranked 11th in the 400 on the Division III performance list for the season.
Less than two hours later, Camlet took down the conference's indoor 200-meter record when she raced to a time of 25.04 seconds, which placed her fourth in the field of 38. She nipped the former conference standard set by Goucher's Nancy Nyadongo by five-hundredths of a second, and her time places her 42nd on the NCAA Division III performance list in the event.
Camlet scored all of Drew's 13 points, placing the Rangers in a tie for 16th out of 62 competing schools.
Junior
Sage Hendershot was also in action and competed in three different individual events. She posted her top showing in the 60-meter dash, placing 11th among 45 competitors with a time of 7.79 seconds. She also placed 22nd in the long jump, clearing 5.20 meters (17- 3/4), and 24th in the 200 in 26.00 seconds.
Drew also had a relay team compete, as the 4x200 squad of Hendershot, sophomore
Lauryn Brown, freshman
Laiana Anderson, and Camlet placed 16th in 1:47.57.
On the men's side, junior
Zach Mogambi recorded an impressive showing as Drew's lone representative. He placed 17th among 34 competitors in the weight throw and improved upon his own school record with a toss of 15.86 meters (52- 1/2).
