Bill Butler Invitational Results
WEST CHESTER, Pa. and EWING, N.J. – Junior
Aidan Riccardo became the first Ranger to complete a decathlon, highlighting Friday's action for the Drew University men's track & field.
In addition, several Rangers competed on the first day of the Bill Butler Invitational, hosted by West Chester University.
Competing at The College of New Jersey Multi, Riccardo accumulated a score of 5,059 points for the two-day, 10-event competition, placing fourth among nine athletes. He posted his highest point total in the first event on Thursday, clocking a career-best time of 11.66 seconds in the 100-meter dash for 719 points. In his fifth and final event on Thursday, he recorded his second-highest score, posting 658 points in the 400-meter dash with another personal record (53.55). Also on Thursday, he competed in the long jump (5.11 meters, 404 points), shot put (10.99 meters, 545 points), and the high jump (1.56 meters, 434 points).
On Friday, Riccardo opened with the 110-meter hurdles and registered his third-best point total of the event, scoring 625 points with a time of 16.99 seconds. In his final four events, he competed in the discus (26.44 meters, 395 points), the pole vault (3.30 meters, 431 points), the javelin (35.06 meters, 371 points), and the 1500-meter run (5:14.97, 477 points).
At West Chester, several athletes competed in the throwing events, and senior
Lauren Rizzolo posted the top finish, placing fifth among 11 athletes in the javelin (29.65m/97-3). Meanwhile, freshman
Zyen Haynesworth came in eighth in the hammer (33.94m/111-4).
The rest of the Bill Butler Invitational will take place on Saturday, with field events starting at 9:30 a.m. and track events beginning at 10 a.m.
