SHAWNEE ON DELAWARE, Pa. – The Drew University men's golf team has jumped to the lead after the opening round of the Landmark Conference Championships on Saturday at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort.
On a rain-soaked day, the Rangers fired a 13-over-par 301 and lead Moravian College by five strokes. Juniata College (312), Elizabethtown College (315), and Goucher College (316) round out the top-five.
Individually, senior
Elliot Parker carded an even-par 72 and is tied with Goucher's Riley Ruby for the lead. Parker shot three birdies and even-par on 12 other holes.
Junior
Avery Cohen is not far back after shooting a 75, putting him in a three-way tie for fourth place in the field of 50 golfers. He opened the tournament with three birdies.
Senior
Shiv Bhaskar, sophomore
Sam Dolan, and junior
Thomas Hurley rounded out the team's opening-round score, with each shooting a 77 to place them among a six-way tie for eighth place. Bhaskar notched a pair of birdies while Dolan and Hurley carded one apiece.
The second and final round of the championship will be held on Sunday back at Shawnee starting at 7:57 a.m.
