Men’s Golf Places Fifth at the Spring Thaw

SHAWNEE ON DELAWARE, Pa. – The Drew University men's golf team tied for fifth place out of 13 teams at The Spring Thaw, held at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort on Friday and Saturday.
 
The Rangers shot a 601 (307-294) to tie Clarkson University. Bridgewater (Va.) University won with a 570.
 
Drew also fielded a "B" team, which placed 10th with a 635 (323-312).
 
Junior Avery Cohen was Drew's top finisher, as he tied for seventh in the field of 70. He shot a 141, including a season-best, 3-under-par 69 in the second round on Saturday, when he carded seven birdies.
 
Senior Elliot Parker tied for 11th with a 148 (75-73), shooting four birdies on each day. Senior Ryan Ricci added a 151 (78-73), tying for 19th place while carding an eagle on Saturday.
 
Sophomore Sam Dolan completed the team scoring with a 156 (77-79), tying for 34th, while junior Thomas Hurley was also in action, tying for 44th with a 159 (79-80).
 
For the B team, senior Shiv Bhaskar and freshman Noah Erickson were the team's top performers, as both tied for 36th with a 157. Bhaskar shot 81-76 while Erickson posted an 81-76. Senior Liam Larkin was one stroke back with a 158 (79-79) while junior Eric Castner notched a 163 (82-81). Freshman Brennan Dewitt also competed and placed 66th with a 170 (83-87).
 
The Rangers return to action April 10-12 at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate, held at Paradise Golf Course in Camp Lejeune, N.C.
