Day One Results
HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Drew University men's golf team completed its opening round at the NCAA Division III Championships on Tuesday at Mission Resort & Club.
The Rangers, making their third appearance at the prestigious national tournament, opened with a 297 (+13), marking the lowest score in program history at the NCAA Championships.
Though Drew was able to complete its opening round, lightning halted play during the afternoon, so team and individual standings are not yet available.
Senior
Elliot Parker led the Rangers with a 69 (-2), which places him in a tie for fifth place with nine other golfers among those that have finished. Parker eagled the par-5 13th hole, and he also birdied five other holes.
Junior
Thomas Hurley, sophomore
Sam Dolan, and junior
Avery Cohen completed the team scoring for the opening round. Hurley shot a 75 and posted four birdies while Dolan fired a 76, shooting even-par on 14 holes. Cohen recorded a 77, shooting three birdies. Senior
Shiv Bhaskar is also in action and opened tournament play with an 81.
The four-day, 72-hole event continues on Wednesday. Following Wednesday's round, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and the top six individuals not on one of those teams.
