Camlet, Hendershot Earn Victories for Women’s Track & Field at Ramapo

MAHWAH and GALLOWAY, N.J. – Senior Emily Camlet and junior Sage Hendershot each won an event to lead the Drew University women's track & field team at the Ramapo College Twilight Last Chance Meet on Friday. 
 
Drew's throwers also competed at Stockton University's G. Larry James Invitational.
 
Camlet defeated 11 competitors in the 800-meter run, clocking a time of 2:22.06 to beat runner-up Alondra Cruz-Delgado of the Central Park Track Club by over a second. Meanwhile, Hendershot leaped 5.29 meters (17-4 1/4) in the long jump to win by seven inches over runner-up Madison Ziska of Division II Mansfield University.
 
Hendershot added a second-place finish while competing in a field of 17 in the 100-meter dash. She clocked a season-best time of 12.31 seconds while finishing just a tenth of a second behind an unattached competitor and beating her nearest collegiate opponent, Chennaya Tschopp of Division II Caldwell University, by four-hundredths of a second.
 
Also competing at Ramapo were junior Sophia Kim in the 5000-meter run (third, 19:56.84), sophomore Perri Rubin in the 5K (fourth, 21:15.90), and sophomore Bella Polizzi in the 800-meter run (eighth, 2:38.46).
 
At Stockton, freshman Sam Martinez posted an eighth-place finish in the discus with a school-record throw of 32.74 meters (107-5).
 
Senior Lauren Rizzolo added 10th-place finishes in the discus (30.34m/99-6) and the hammer (37.12m/121-9). In addition, senior Dejanayha Hill placed 12th in the hammer (29.15m/95-7) while classmate Michaela Fajardo took 13th in the hammer (24.16m/79-3).
 
Several Rangers will now compete at the Widener University Final Qualifier on Tuesday.
