DALLAS, Pa. – The Drew University women's cross country team placed second in its first meet of the year at Misericordia University's Cougar Classic on Saturday.
 
The Rangers placed behind only Misericordia while beating out Wilkes, Penn State Berks, and Penn State Schuylkill.
 
Senior Skyler McGuire was Drew's top finisher, placing eighth with a time of 26 minutes, 54 seconds for the 6,000-meter course.
 
Drew's second through fifth finisher crossed the line within 24 seconds of each other. Senior Sophia Kim placed ninth in 27:31 while freshman Maycie Treney took 11th in 27:33. Junior Perri Rubin came in 12th in 27:46, and classmate Isabella Fortunato rounded out the team scoring, placing 13th in 27:55.
 
Finishing as displacers were senior Sarah Hattan, who came in 17th in 28:56, and junior Bella Polizzi, who was 19th in 31:27.
 
The Rangers pick up their schedule on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Lock Haven University Invitational, the site of this year's Landmark Conference Championships.
