ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Drew University women's volleyball team rallied from a 10-3 deficit in the fifth set and the Rangers came away with an epic 3-2 victory at Muhlenberg College in non-conference action Wednesday evening.
The Rangers prevailed by scores of 25-22, 21-25, 22-25, 25-21, 17-15.
Drew was paced by senior
Victoria Latino, who posted 18 kills and 15 digs, while junior
Lindsey Millis also registered a double-double with 11 kills and 13 digs. Freshman
Hailey Kenefick and senior
Alyssa Rachwal handed out 24 and 21 assists, respectively, while junior
Aidyn Stone contributed 19 digs and five service aces, including the match winner. Junior
Corletta Harrison added nine blocks, tying her for second-most in team history.
Drew embarked on its comeback with a kill from Millis to make it 10-4. Freshman
Aaliyah Anderson then served on Drew's next five points, which included one ace and a pair of kills from freshman
Jessica Donnelly, the second of which made it 10-9.
The Mules responded with the next three points before the Rangers came roaring back once again, scoring four straight points to pull even. Harrison and Latino opened the surge with consecutive kills before Millis added a pair of kills to make the score 13-13.
Muhlenberg scored the next point and was serving for the match before a pair of blocks put the Rangers in control. Harrison threw down a solo block, then teamed up with sophomore
Maddy Baker on a block to put Drew up 15-14.
The hosts scored their final point on an attack error, but Drew won the final two points on a Muhlenberg attack error and Stone's final ace.
The Rangers are back in action on Saturday, when they host the third of their six home tri-matches, taking on Maritime College at noon and Delaware Valley University at 4 p.m.
